SIIG HDMI 2.0 4K60Hz Over IP Extender / Matrix with IR - Encoder (TX)

Experience next‑level AV distribution with the SIIG HDMI 2.0 4K60Hz Over IP Extender / Matrix featuring an IR‑enabled Encoder (TX). This high‑performance device uses HDBitT technology to deliver pristine 4K video and stereo audio over standard IP networks, extending signals up to 120 meters without sacrificing picture quality or synchronization. Whether you’re building a multi‑room home theater, outfitting a corporate conference suite, or deploying digital signage across campus, this TX unit is engineered to simplify installation while expanding your viewing possibilities. Its compact form factor, robust build, and seamless integration with existing network infrastructure make it a versatile choice for professional installers and enthusiasts alike.

  • 4K60Hz over IP with HDBitT: The TX encoder transmits HDMI video and stereo audio across an IP network, preserving the sharp detail and fluid motion of 4K content across distances up to 120 meters, enabling scalable distribution without a maze of long HDMI cables.
  • IR control for convenient, room‑to‑room operation: Built‑in IR capability lets you control source devices from the display location. An IR emitter on the TX and a responder at the source location create a seamless, cable‑free remote experience, so you can power, pause, or switch inputs without leaving your seat.
  • Matrix‑style routing over IP: Designed to function as part of a matrix system, the TX streams a single HDMI source to multiple receivers across an IP network. This enables flexible routing to one, several, or all displays in your installation, simplifying complex layouts and reducing the need for dedicated point‑to‑point HDMI runs.
  • HDMI 2.0 compatibility with high‑quality audio: Built to support the HDMI 2.0 specification, the TX handles 4K video at 60 Hz with compatible audio, delivering a compelling home theater or presentation experience with accurate color and sound fidelity—ideal for immersive gaming, video walls, and professional presentations.
  • Easy integration with existing networks and components: Connect the TX to your LAN via a standard Ethernet port and pair it with compatible RX units for robust, scalable distribution. The solution is designed for straightforward setup in both new installations and retrofits, letting you expand as your AV needs evolve.

How to install SIIG HDMI 2.0 4K60Hz Over IP Extender / Matrix with IR - Encoder (TX)

Follow these steps to set up a reliable, scalable IP‑based HDMI distribution system with IR control:

  • Plan your layout: Determine where your HDMI source(s) will reside, where RX displays will be located, and how many displays you intend to support. Ensure all devices share a common IP subnet for seamless communication.
  • Connect the source: Plug the HDMI output from your media player, Blu‑ray player, or computer into the TX unit’s HDMI input. Secure the TX in a convenient rack or shelf position for easy cable management and access.
  • Network integration: Connect the TX to your local network using a standard RJ‑45 Ethernet cable. Power on the TX and verify that the indicator LEDs indicate normal operation.
  • IR setup: Place the IR emitter in view of the source’s remote sensor. If needed, position the IR receiver to capture remote commands at the TX location, enabling two‑way IR control with RX units at display sites.
  • Connect receivers and displays: At each display location, connect an HDMI cable from the RX unit to the display. Ensure RX units are powered and on the same network so they can receive the routed signal from the TX.
  • Route and test: Use the matrix control interface (via compatible hardware or software in your installation) to route the source signal to the desired RX endpoints. Test each display for video quality, audio synchronization, and IR responsiveness. Fine‑tune if needed by adjusting EDID settings, latency parameters, or routing rules as supported by your matrix setup.
  • Expand as needed: Add additional RX units to support more displays, creating a broader multi‑room experience without rewiring or running extra HDMI cables across long distances.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is HDMI over IP, and how does this SIIG device help? This extender uses IP networking to transport HDMI video and stereo audio from a source to one or more distant displays. It eliminates the need for long HDMI cables, reduces installation complexity, and enables flexible routing decisions across a LAN‑based AV matrix.
  • Can I use multiple displays with this TX? Yes. The system is designed to function within a matrix setup, allowing routing of a single or multiple sources to several RX endpoints across the network. This makes it suitable for multi‑room viewing, digital signage networks, or conference suites.
  • Is 4K60Hz supported, and what about audio? The TX supports HDMI 2.0, enabling 4K video at 60 Hz along with standard stereo audio. You’ll enjoy high‑definition picture quality without sacrificing sound fidelity, ideal for home theaters and professional environments.
  • Do I need special software to operate the matrix? Many installations use a standard network‑connected controller or switcher compatible with HDBitT over IP extenders. The TX is designed to integrate with existing AV control systems and does not require proprietary software for basic operation, though some advanced routing features may require compatible control interfaces.
  • What about installation distance and cable runs? Video and audio are transmitted over IP, enabling long distances beyond the typical HDMI cable limits (up to 120 meters on standard networks). This makes it ideal for distributing content to distant rooms while preserving 4K quality and audio integrity.

Nice functional printer at a low price-point
Style: WF-3820
At this price-point, the WF-3820 is a winner for a home printer with not much printing volume. It prints well. It was easy to set up the printer and wireless printing from a couple of computers. It uses ink cartridges. While Epson goes to great lengths to advertise/tout its cartridge-free printer models, if you don't print a lot this unit will do fine for you. Did I mention that it's relatively cheap? Has a fax function, but I don't have a landline anymore. It is a bit tall, and you have to open the scanner to access the ink cartridges; so beware if you're putting it in a cabinet or shelf without some decent head room.

Good Printer
Style: WF-3820
Given the 'not so good' reviews, I was a little apprehensive to buy this printer at first. This replaces a WF3620, in which I was very happy with its performance. But the print head began to print only Yellow and Black, and several attempts to 'unclog' the Cyan and Magenta nossles proved unsuccessful. But, I am very happy with the WF3820 - both with the price and the performance. It is faster and the graphics are clear and sharp. The 'jury' is still out on how much toner it uses, but suspect it is around the same as with the WF3620. If so, then I will retain my 5 Star rating.

Good printer ... Until Epson bricked it with Firmware
Style: WF-3820
Bought this as a replacement for a small office HP that died on us. It is a good machine. Nice features at a reasonable cost. Good color, full duplex, excellent scanning, and reasonable speed. The drivers are fairly crappy in that they constantly want to update and are poorly written and appear to send too much data home. (max out two cores on a modern i7 for a tiny printer driver update.) Overall a good machine and excellent for the price. Epson ink is ridiculously priced so went with high quality refurbished ink cartridges. Worked great at a good price. Fast forward to July 2022. Epson pushes firmware update for "performance, stability, and security updates" that seems harmless. Who doesn't install newer firmware when it is offered? After the firmware update the printer claimed that the ink cartridges were faulty and refused to function. Turns out that the printer is now a brick until I buy genuine Epson ink refills at an exorbitant price. Turns out the company has had a number of class actions against them in the past for this very shady practice. Time to write up some copy for social media and contact a lawyer. It should be illegal to remove capabilities from a product that has been bought and paid for and working for months. Certainly I will never buy another Epson product and neither will anyone at my company.

Good quality , almost perfect.
Style: WF-3820
I would give it a 5 star if it stayed connected. It can be temperamental at times connecting to the wifi. Once it's connected it works great. The app for the phone works flawlessly and it sends it relatively quick but if you have multiple pages to scan sometimes the printer freezes up. Causing a heartache and delay or needing to reset the printer. Overall it's a nice printer and compact in size .
